Who:  The City of San Mateo has a SMART green team that will conduct the presentation.  If you are interested in having someone speak at your school, please fill out the online speaker request form.

What:  The SMART green team has designed grade-appropriate PowerPoint presentations on global warming, sustainability, and climate change!

The main objective of this presentation is to share with students the effects climate change and poor air quality has on our environment, and to present them with ideas and solutions each of them can do at home, at school and every day to make healthy choices to create a more sustainable environment.

We have also designed a worksheet to help students follow along with the presentation  The worksheet contains review questions where the answers can be found within the presentation.  On the backside, there is a fun crossword puzzle that quizzes the students on concepts they just learned from the presentation.  At the end of the presentation, we ask students, as a class, to take the “SMART pledge” Then, we present the class with a “certificate of completion”.   
 
Where:  At your school, in your classroom!  The SMART green team comes to you!

When:  Rain or shine, we can present any time during the school year! 

Why:  One of the goals of the SMART campaign, is to educate the San Mateo community on simple behavior changes everyone can make in their every day lives to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Length:  The presentation takes 30-45 minutes.  Throughout the presentation, we have interactive Q&A and we welcome discussions that arise from the topics we discuss.
