Paving Our City's Roadways

The City of San Mateo has 191 miles of city streets to maintain. Maintaining and repairing roads is an ongoing effort by the Public Works Department.
We have a Pavement Management Program (PMP) to provide a cost effective way to maintain safe, drivable roads.
The City is required to have a
Pavement Management Program (PMP) in order to qualify for State and Federal funding. The PMP format was developed by the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) which is the transportation planning, financing and coordinating agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.

If the City of San Mateo reconstructed every city maintained street, it would cost approximately $150 million. Our average annual road repair budget is $3 million. |
