San Mateo Libraries Make a Difference

San Mateo’s libraries are dedicated to helping our diverse community discover, enjoy, and connect and learn in an ever-changing world. Every day, thousands of community members visit our libraries and make use of the wide array of resources available to them.

From children’s programs to cultural celebrations, from business workshops to art exhibits, San Mateo’s libraries make a difference in the lives of individuals and families through the quality library services and in promoting literacy and ongoing learning.

A sampling of feedback from the community this past year:
“I would recommend the JobSeekers service to anyone looking for employment” “I love the library . . . yay. Also got passport here, that was nice” “Your library is a wonderful resource and a beautiful place to spend time in”
“Bravo on giving high school students a chance to display their art in an exhibit just for them!” “The Library’s biotechnology resources were the guiding light [in high school research project] and I managed to attain the highest grade available, an A, in the class” “I would say that the San Mateo Public Library is world class, offering modern contemporary facilities for the Silicon Valley entrepreneur”

The theme of this year’s National Library Week (Apr. 8-14) is “You belong @ your library!” In fact, San Mateo’s libraries are often referred to as the “community’s living room”.

National Library Week is April 8 - 14
